A relatively new addition to Chatswood, Good Vibes is a beautiful Western food eatery that offers something a little bit different to the usual (delicious) Asian fare that one normally associates Chatswood with. It is also just a little bit out of the way from the main shopping strip of Chatswood, however due to its proximity to the residential side of Chataswood, it's fast becoming a very popular destination for locals.
There are a couple of things you have to know about Good Vibes:
1. The chefs are Le Cordon Bleu trained. That's some serious, serious pedigree.
2. The menu is relatively small, but they change their menus quite frequently -so unfortunately you may not be able to find every single dish I feature here when you visit, but really, with Good Vibes, you could ini-mini-mani-mo your order and they'll all taste great.
3. Their degustation option allows you to pick and choose your dishes, and it is particularly good for sharing so you can try literally everything on the menu if you like.
4. Good Vibes is very flexible with vegetarian or vegan options.

Seared Scallops |
Resting on a bed of lentils, the seared scallops taste fresh and cooked beautifully - not overcooked, but slightly smokey.
|
Pulled pork crepe |
I am used to having sweet crepe, and this crepe does have a sweet element - the dipping sauce is a nectarine marmalade. However, the melty, savoury pulled pork gives that perfect sweet-and-salty balance which I love.

Mushroom and aubergine tart |
|
|
This was one of the very few dishes which are perfectly respectable but did not stand out.
|
Twice cooked crispy skin chicken |
I never knew chicken skin could be so deliciously crispy - almost flakey. Highly recommended!
|
Slow cooked scotch fillet |
|
|
The scotch fillet was just okay because I prefer my steak to cut like butter; but the mashed potato is so creamy and dreamy.
|
Sesami salmon mi cuit, battered butternut pumpkin |
|
This dish was superb. The salmon is only half cooked (hence mi cuit) and rolled in sesami. The nuttiness of the sesami pairs beautifully with the fresh salmon and the thick teriyaki glaze. The highlight of the dish, however, is the sweet and crunchy battered butternut pumpkins.

Chicken and zuchinni salad |
|
If you have read my zoodles review, you will know that I'm no fan of raw zuchinni. Despite my dislike of this venerable vegetable, I really liked this dish - probably because the chicken is so well cooked. Nothing bland or stringy about these chicken breast at all - the meat is well seasoned and tender.

Roast vegetable stack |
The dish feels healthy. That's all I can really say about it.

Arrabbiata, mushroom* stuffed capsicum |
Probably my favourite savoury dish of the evening, the original dish on the menu is a lamb-stuffed capsicum. However, my family does not eat lamb (my parents don't like the taste, they find lamb too gamey) so we were going to pass on this dish until the very friendly and helpful waitress recommended that we swap lamb out for chopped mushroom. The arrabbiata is al dente and packs a bit of a chili punch; and the mushroom lamb replacement was so deliciously rich and salty. I would highly, highly, highly recommend this dish if it's still on the menu.

Crumbed flathead goujons |
Fish and chips might be a bit of an odd choice at a sit down restaurant, but these were pretty well done. The mint yogurt dip balanced out the oiliness of the fried goodness.
|
Orange caramel creme brulee |
This is the best creme brulee I have ever had, hands down. It is so thick and creamy, unlike shop bought creme brulees. I think orange really is an inspired flavour choice for a creme brulee because it is not too acidic, yet acidic enough to balance out the richness of the dessert. Definitely a highlight of the meal.
|
Frozen yogurt parfait, corn flake banana fritter, strawberry coulis |
Again, Good Vibes achieves the perfect balance between tartness and sweetness. Bananas and yogurt work very well together. I'm not a huge fan of either, but if you are, you'd love this dish.
|
Chocolate cinnamon meringue tart |
Another stellar dessert. The richness of the chocolate tart, the beautifully made pastry and the fluffy meringue topped with seasonal fruit, flowers and mint makes this one a dessert to remember for sure.
