Amber Tries: 2 day juice cleanse Day 2

Image
This cleanse has made me wish my weekend were over sooner. Thank god I wasn't stupid or crazy enough to commit to a 3 day cleanse, so at least my Sunday can be salvaged. Having started on such a positive, up beat note, let's review today's range of drinks, shall we? If you have just come into this juice cleansing experience, catch up on what happened yesterday here . I was a lot more upbeat when real food wasn't such a distant memory. And as promised, I have made a video where you can see my first impressions of the juices. You can find it here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SNeHTc4KiA JUMPING STRAIGHT TO PART III: AMBER TRIES In true juice cleanser expert fashion, the first juice of the day is a 'tonic'. Amber Tries: 2 Day Juice Cleanse - DAY ONE

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT I will be making a video about this ordeal experience! Stay tuned. Part I: USELESS PREAMBLE Juicing: a great way to feel like you're packing your body full of nutrients, when you're actually just packing it full of sugar - unless, of course, you are super careful and read the labels / make your own juices. If you make your own juices, however, it is unlikely that your juices would be 'cold pressed' - which is a method whereby the machine crushes the ingredients rather than using a fast-spinning blade to extract the juices, and if cold juices devotees (but mainly, businesses that sell cold pressed juices) are to be believed,  traditional juicers heat up the ingredients in the process and as a result, you lose some of the nutritional value. Most juice cleanses start from about 3 days; though a quick search on Youtube will tell you that there are crazy people out there who do month-long juice cleanses. Menya Noodle Bar City

Menya is rated as one of the best places to get ramen in the Sydney CBD. Tucked away discreetly behind office buildings, its slightly-tricky location doesn't prevent the line from snaking out the door every day at lunch hour. Thankfully, many members of the line are there for takeaway orders, and it wasn't too difficult to find a seat to dine in. The service, as most busy Asian eateries are, is efficient and no-nonsense, which is perfect for a quick break during the working day. Unlike the slightly-more-famous Ryo's in Crows Nest (which has quite a limited menu), the menu at Menya is pretty impressive: it spans several pages and apart from noodles (a slighly overwhleming array of ramen, soba and udon) you can also get a range of Japanese curries and a la carte items such as gyozas and takoyaki. Menya Ramen, $11.90  Of course, I had to start my Menya journey with the Menya Ramen. The broth I selected is the tonkatsu, which is a collagen-rich broth made by simmering
